Factories should be kept away from cities.

After Vizag gas leak, Centre issues guidelines for restarting ...

The city of Visakha is a unique geographical feature. On one side is the sea.  The city resembles the bowl of the city with three hills. This does not eliminate the pollution emitted from the industry. Stays in the city. When the poisonous gases and coal dust come into the air, the moisture in the air that flows over the ocean will be weighed together and returned to the ground.

Any pollution will go down on the city. This causes people with chronic illnesses. The Central Pollution Control Board has found that the pollution is high and has banned access to new industries in Visakhapatnam for some years.

On May 7, 2020, the LG Polymers plant reopened following a lock down of  COVID-19.  The plant has 12 tanks contains 2,000 metric tons of Styrene storage.  The high temperature of these tanks caused the steam pressure to rise. Between 2:30 and 3:00 am, when the operation was underway, gas leaked from the plant to nearby villages and areas.

In 1997, 60 lives were lost when HPCL gas tanks exploded. People have climbed hills  and survived. The cooling tower collapsed in the same company four years ago, killing 38 people. 19 people were killed when a gas leak tanker exploded in a steel plant in 2012. Risks are routine in pharma companies.

The LG Polymers Company, with a turnover of over 1700 crores annually, with 600 employees, is spread over 250 acres. This company's negligence and  Styrene release of toxins causes deaths. The same tanker detonation would have cost more lives. The locals do not want to close the company and demanding to move the company away from the houses.

It is the ideology of development which leads to destruction. People strongly believe that establishment of the industries only leads to development. People believe that thousands of acres of green fields for establishment of State Capital can be given.

The government has been supporting the company by announcing 1 Crore of rupees to the dead one. Opposition parties alleged that Jagan  spoke positively with the company's chiefs at the airport. The public alleges that the gas was leaked on May 1, and that the government was conspiring to terrorize people.

The Opposition parties  says that the company has opened  to supply empty plastic liquor bottles. The same company  funded the trusts of a big head of ruling government. The water and the air were polluted by the sterain. The National Green Tribunal has ordered the company to deposit 50 crores for the initial loss. The court and the National Human Rights Commission have embraced the incident as sumo-to. Everyone is demanding the company's ownership be arrested.

Parties demands that the case be filed under Section 299. Recognition of such industries should be abolished. Ownership must be arrested. The company assets should be nationalized. It is then that companies pay attention to people's lives. Factories should be  set out  apart from the towns.
